Every year, millions of travelers hand over their most personal moments to strangers behind a check-in counter. They trust that the walls of a hotel room mean something. That the Wi-Fi is safe. That the person who cleans the room follows rules. That no one is watching who shouldn’t be.
And yet, if you asked any of them how they know — they couldn’t answer.
Because there is no standard. There is no independent body checking. There are stars for service and reviews for beds — but nothing for privacy. That gap is what PrivC exists to close.
The problem
Aviation has ICAO. Finance has SOC 2. Healthcare has HIPAA. Every industry that people trust with their safety has a shared, independent standard. Hospitality — an industry built entirely on trust — does not. Every property interprets privacy differently, and travelers are left to hope for the best.
The vision
PrivC is building the Privacy Verification Standard (PVS): an open, independent framework the industry can rely on. Not a badge to buy. Not a marketing sticker. A rigorous, observable, continuously improved measure of what “privacy-verified” actually means.
We’re starting where any serious standard has to start: by listening. We’re talking to travelers, hoteliers, security professionals, researchers and policy experts. We’re publishing our methodology openly. And we’re taking our time — because a standard people trust cannot be rushed.
Why privacy deserves a standard
Because privacy is not a feature. It’s the foundation of trust. Travelers who feel private are travelers who return. Hotels that demonstrate privacy earn loyalty stars alone cannot buy. And the industry that codifies this well will define the next decade of hospitality.
